Gurdwara Sahib
Gurdwara Sahib
Johor's first Sikh temple that has been around for more than a century
History
In 1916, the Sikhs requested a piece of land from the Johor Police Commissioner to build a Gurdwara Sahib. In 1921, the present site was gazetted as a temple reserve. The land was very muddy and swampy, so the Sikhs filled it up with sand and stones. On this land, they constructed their first Sikh temple.
Significance
The Gurdwara Sahib still serves as the Sikhs place of worship to this day.
