The formation of the federation was a momentous event that saw the unification of Malaya, North Borneo (which is now known as Sabah), Sarawak, and Singapore into a single state However, it is worth noting that Singapore was expelled from the federation less than two years later, on the 9th of August 1965. Datuk Christina Liew, the State Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Environment, who also serves as the co-chairman of the main committee for Malaysia Day 2024 , announced that this captivating performance will consist of five distinct segments, all presented in the form of dance at Padang Merdeka. “This extraordinary performance will highlight various facets of Malaysia’s achievements, including themes of resilience, unity, progress, and national transformation, and will involve a total of 100 participants,” she mentioned in an interview with Radio SabahFM on Monday. Through those negotiations, an agreement was made in February 1956 and independence would officially be granted. 1957 Independence and the formation of the Federation of Malaya on 31 August 1957. 1960 The Emergency was abolished in 1948 because the Communist rebels began to lose power. 1962 Negotiations after negotiations were made to achieve independence for Singapore, Sabah, Sarawak, and Brunei. In the beginning, Sabah and Sarawak agreed to join Malaya but received strong opposition from the Philippines and Indonesia. 1963 The formation of the Federation of Malaysia was formed on 16 September 1963 consisting of 9 states in Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore. 1965 However, due to a misunderstanding between the leaders of the central government and the Singaporean authorities, Singapore decided to leave the Union on August 6, 1965 and form a separate country. JOHOR'S RAYA FEAST Mee Bandung Johor Mee Bandung Johor is a very popular dish in Johor, especially in Muar. A trip to Johor is incomplete if one does not try its Bandung 'Muor'. The taste of Mee Bandung Johor is very rich in the essence of the seafood ingredients that awaken one's tastebuds. The taste and aroma of the shrimp in the gravy is very strong. And the gravy is certainly very thick and viscous. Laksa Johor Johor is not left behind to have its own laksa recipe. At one glance at laksa Johor, it is like most laksa in other states but there is a twist that makes it different from others. Unlike other laksa, the noodles used are usually not from the laksa noodle material made from rice flour, but the noodles used are from the spaghetti type. Nasi Ambeng Johor Nasi Ambang, on the other hand, is a white rice that is eaten in a tray along with a variety of side dishes. Apart from being available at eateries in Johor, ambeng rice is often also served every Yasin or tahlil recitation ceremony. If at the eatery, it is usually packed in banana leaves or eaten in a plate as usual. The side dishes are varied and must be present in the rice threshold of dried fish, coconut, ulaman and sambal. Botok-botok Johor Botok-botok is a food synonymous with Javanese food which is quite famous in Johor. It is a fish fillet wrapped in banana leaves. To enhance its taste and aroma, the production of these botoks uses at least 7 specific types of side dishes and spices. Among them are kesum leaves, kingulam and saffron pudding leaves.  Most often, tenggi or inflatable fish will be used to make these botoks. Telur Pindang Johor A delicacy consisting of boiled egg with a mixture of herbs that turn the egg black. When boiled, the aroma of the herb is strong. The pindang egg is one of the obligatory foods especially when there are occasions such as weddings in Johor.

Prime Minister-designate Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj arrived at 11:58 p.m and joined members of the Alliance Party's youth divisions in observing two minutes of darkness. At the stroke of midnight, the lights were switched back on, and the Union Flag in the square was lowered as the royal anthem "God Save The Queen" played. The new Flag of Malaya was raised, accompanied by the national anthem Negaraku . The crowd then chanted " Merdeka " seven times. Tunku Abdul Rahman later delivered a speech, hailing the ceremony as the "greatest moment in the life of the Malayan people". Before addressing the crowd, he was presented with a necklace by representatives of the Alliance Party's youth, commemorating the historic occasion, with a map of Malaya inscribed on it. The event concluded at 1 a.m. ​ On the morning of August 31 , 1957 , a celebration was held at the newly completed Merdeka Stadium. Over 20,000 people attended the ceremony, which began at 9:30 am. The attendees included the rulers of the Malay states, foreign dignitaries, members of the federal cabinet, and citizens. The Duke of Gloucester, the Queen's representative, presented Tunku Abdul Rahman with the instrument of independence. Tunku then read the Proclamation of Independence, with the crowd joining in the chanting of " Merdeka! " seven times. The ceremony continued with the raising of the National Flag of Malaya, accompanied by the national anthem played by a military band and a 21-gun salute. This was followed by an azan call and a thanksgiving prayer in honor of this momentous occasion. ​ The day continued with the formal installation of the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong , Tuanku Abdul Rahman of Negeri Sembilan , at Jalan Ampang, and an installation banquet in his honor in the evening. TRIVIA MALAYSIA ''N E G A R A K U'' Malaysia's national anthem, Negaraku ("My Country" in English), was created in 1957 to celebrate the country's independence from the United Kingdom on August 31 , 1957 . The anthem was first performed at midnight on that day at the Selangor Club field. The anthem's lyrics were written by Tunku Abdul Rahman , the former Prime Minister, and a Special Committee with the approval of the Malay Sultans. The melody is based on the Perak state anthem, " Allah Lanjutkan Usia Sultan ", which was chosen for its "Traditional Flavor". The anthem emphasizes loyalty and unity for the progress of Malaysia.
